Although we prefer to bottle wines that express individual site character, our primary goal is to make the best wine possible, and in 2003 the two wines complemented each other nicely. This is a classic Zinfandel, with briar, blackberry, raspberry and black pepper. There are added notes of brown spices and caramel. It is very fruity, dry, has moderate alcohol (for Zin), and isnâ€™t buried under tons of new oak and residual sugar as is way too common these days.
