2006 Chenin Blanc

Our 2006 vintage was harvested in the early morning cold, and crushed and pressed at the winery. After a long and cold fermentation we immediately bottled the wine, to make the fin ... moreal product fresh and vibrant. The 2006 Chenin Blanc offers inviting aromas of honeysuckle and white peach with a slight floral note. To the palate this off-dry wine is soft and round with the right balance of bright fruit and zesty acidity. Even “non-wine drinkers” have been known to fall in love with the Husch Chenin Blanc.

This is the ideal wine for a picnic, aperitif or with a fruit and cheese course. It is also excellent with fresh oysters, cracked crab, or your favorite spicy Asian dish.

2006 'Vine One' Chardonnay

Because so many Chardonnay wines today emphasize their oak character, we wanted to return to old world techniques for making a wine that distinguishes itself with the quality of it ... mores fruit. To reach this goal we fermented about half of the wine in tank and the remaining half in French oak barrels. The stainless steel component showcases the unique fruit in this wine while the barrel component adds a texture and richness to the final blend.

Look for the lively aromas of apricot, peach, and floral notes. The fruit shines in this lightly-oaked wine and a mineral component adds to the complexity. The bright acidity and lean style make it a great food wine. Enjoy it with Rosemary Roasted Chicken or fresh seafood.

2006 Mojo Red

Husch has seen several generations of family over the years and now the fourth generation is toddling through the winery. At age 5 Morgan Joseph ('Mojo') isn't quite a full fledged ... more winemaker, but he is a favorite with tasting room staff and visitors.

Our goal with the wine has not changed. You can still expect a Cabernet Sauvignon based wine that is affordable and ready to drink tonight. With the 2006 vintage we blended Cabernet Sauvignon (71%) and Carignane (29%). Approach this wine with high expectations; despite the price this wine is hand crafted in small batches.

The 2006 vintage offers a deep garnet color. Aromas reminisce of black cherry and blackberry -- with a hint of tobacco and clove. The wine offers similar flavors, a nice structure, and a little smoke on the finish.

Mojo Red is meant to be enjoyed while young (it is served as the "house red" at many Mendocino County restaurants) and is an excellent affordable choice for a large gathering. Try it with grilled steaks, pasta, pizza or your favorite burger.

2006 'Vin Gris' Pinot Noir

The Vin Gris is back. For the second year, Husch has added a pink wine to its usual mix of red and white varietals. We call our wine a Vin Gris – “grey wine” – which typica ... morelly denotes a pink wine that is, unlike its sweet cousin “blush”, dry (containing no residual sugar). While a Vin Gris can be made from almost any type of red grape, it was natural for Husch to choose Pinot Noir which is one of the winery’s specialties.

The grapes were crushed at the winery and allowed to soak up only a small portion of the pigment from the dark grape skins. When the juice had turned pick – but not yet fully red – we gently pressed the must and separated the pink grape juice from the dark grape skins. The wine was then fermented like a white wine and bottled without any extensive aging in the winery.

The 2006 Vin Gris offers delicate flavors of strawberry and watermelon with a touch of spice. Perfect for a summer afternoon, this rosé has a round mouthfeel, yet finishes dry and crisp. Enjoy with fresh fruit or a light summer brunch.

2006 LA Blanc

Husch holds a strong belief that wine should be affordable, especially within our own local community. For this reason, we blend each year a white table wine that can be enjoyed by ... more our friends and neighbors on a daily basis. Not surprisingly, our LA Blanc is a favorite with local restaurants and neighbors who drop by the tasting room to pick up a case. In 2003 we renamed the wine to pay tribute to Luke and Amelia, the fourth generation in the H.A. Oswald family.

This year’s vintage is an enticing blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay with a touch of Muscat Canelli and Gewurztraminer. The grapes were harvested and brought directly from the vineyards to the winery where they were immediately pressed. The Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat Canelli, and Gewurztraminer juice was cold-fermented slowly in stainless steel tanks to preserve the subtle aromas and flavors of the varieties. The Chardonnay was barrel fermented and then racked-up to tank for aging.

The resulting wine has initial aromas of honeydew, wildflowers, apple and pear. It finishes off-dry, with a crisp finish and lingering tones of tropical fruit and orange peel.

2003 Grand Oz

It was our Grandfather – “Grand Oz” - who introduced our family to grape-growing and wine. A longtime farmer, HA Oswald, Jr. grew some of Mendocino County’s best grapes at ... morethe family vineyard and produced some of the region’s finest wines. While every bottle of Husch carries his name we thought it fitting that this exclusive wine be named in his honor.

The inaugural vintage of Grand Oz is a Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah blend – using the best fruit from HA Oswald’s home ranch combined with the best barrels in the winery. With only two barrels produced (540 bottles) this wine was nurtured from vineyard to bottle with extreme pride and care. Each bottle of Grand Oz was hand numbered, wax sealed and signed by third generation family owners, Zac Robinson and Amanda Holstine.

Understated and refined, this vintage is true to character. The dark Cabernet Sauvignon fruit shows rich cassis flavors with hints of cedar and eucalyptus. The beautiful bright fruit of the Syrah also brings an element of leather and smoke. The lower alcohol (12.4%) of this vintage allows it to pair well with food as well as age gracefully in the bottle.

The grapes were hand selected from the best Cabernet vines at La Ribera Vineyards which border the Russian River and Morrison Creek in the warm Ukiah Valley. The wine was fermented ... more in closed top stainless steel tanks and pumped over 3 times a day for flavor and color extraction. A short 4 day extended maceration was employed post dryness. The wine was then nurtured in a collection of 75% new French oak barrels for 15 months.

The resulting wine has aromas of cassis, black currant and leather with a hint of eucalyptus. It is deep Bordeaux red in color with rich berry and cocoa flavors. The tannins are firm, allowing for optimum aging potential.
