2006 LA Blanc
Husch holds a strong belief that wine should be affordable, especially within our own local community. For this reason, we blend each year a white table wine that can be enjoyed by our friends and neighbors on a daily basis. Not surprisingly, our LA Blanc is a favorite with local restaurants and neighbors who drop by the tasting room to pick up a case. In 2003 we renamed the wine to pay tribute to Luke and Amelia, the fourth generation in the H.A. Oswald family.
This year’s vintage is an enticing blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay with a touch of Muscat Canelli and Gewurztraminer. The grapes were harvested and brought directly from the vineyards to the winery where they were immediately pressed. The Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat Canelli, and Gewurztraminer juice was cold-fermented slowly in stainless steel tanks to preserve the subtle aromas and flavors of the varieties. The Chardonnay was barrel fermented and then racked-up to tank for aging.
The resulting wine has initial aromas of honeydew, wildflowers, apple and pear. It finishes off-dry, with a crisp finish and lingering tones of tropical fruit and orange peel.
