Zinfandel

7434 visitors
Zinfandel is grown by over 200 producers, and now accounts for over 23% of the total vineyard territory. Its quality and character largely depend on the place of cultivation, the age of the vineyard, and the winemaking technology. Zinfandel became so popular that in 1991 the association of Zinfandel Advocates and Producers (ZAP) was founded with the objective to promote the varietal and wine, and support scientific research on Zinfandel - particularly its origin.
More information on Zinfandel
Food Pairing: Pairs well with barbecue foods like chili, burgers and fried chicken -heavy on the spice and flavor. Zinfandel can hold its own out of a plastic glass on a picnic table or served in crystal with an elegant Chateaubriand.

Andrew Lane Wines

2002 Zinfandel
Chiles Valley

Andrew Lane zinfandel comes from the Chiles Valley appellation of Napa Valley located at 900 ft. elevation. As the crow flies the vineyard lies on the volcanic backside of Stag's L ...moreeap. The vineyard enjoys warmer temperatures than Napa and is influenced by afternoon breezes that ebb and flow from the great, water body mass of Lake Berryessa to the east. These breezes extend the growing season and coupled with the young volcanic soil produce a zinfandel that is absolutely phenomenal. Truly one of the finest zinfandels we have ever tasted! High alcohol with big, blueberry and chocolate flavors to back it up we suggest drinking this to finish an evening or close to where you will sleep. WOW!!

2004 Zinfandel- Tributary
Humbodlt County

The 2004 Tributary Zinfandel comes from our original, dry-farmed, head-pruned vineyard. Due to a small fruit set in spring, we only received 2 1/2 tons per acre, which led to a ver ...morey intense, concentrated wine. The fruit ripened easily and the resulting wine retained fresh, fruit flavors, along with noticeable peppery spice. We decided to add a 15% addition of Syrah, which lends color and complexity to the blend. This Zin has a dark ruby color with aromas of ripe red fruits, cedar and spice. The palette is classic Zin with its pure bright, ripe, red raspberry, strawberry, leather, and hints of cracked pepper. Aged on 3-year-old French and eastern European oak for two years, the slight vanillin and spice adds to the long fruity finish.

2004 Fly by Night Zinfandel
Oakville

Only 633 cases were produced of a great example of our claret style Zinfandel. The Pelissa vineyard in Oakville is the source of all of our zinfandel and is California certified or ...moreganically farmed. Thus the 2004 Fly by Night Zinfandel is our first certified organic wine. It is well balanced and is sweet on the front palate and spicy on the back. Black currants, wild huckelberries, and a melting essence of dark chocolate emerge from this full-bodied wine that finishes with a note of vanilla and cracked pepper. WOW!

2005 Zinfandel
Paso Robles

This wine combines fruit from two small, family-owned vineyards in Paso Robles—Margett Vineyard and Rancho Dos Amigos. Vintage conditions in 2005 were excellent, bringing warm, eve ...moren temperatures, promoting a gradual ripening of the grapes. This Zinfandel is vibrant and well balanced, featuring aromas of plum, blueberry and cranberry with hints of vanilla, spice and subtle oak. A velvety mid-palate and firm acidity give way to a clean, yet lingering finish.
