A 209 acre estate located between the South and Middle forks of the Cosumnes River in the Sierra Foothills, Shenandoah Valley, California appellation. The winery is a 12,000sq.ft. “World Class” facility, is perched on a hillside and has spectacular views of the nearby vineyards and the Sierra Foothills. Using the natural terrain, the architectural design of the winery was created on 2 plateaus, thus creating “gravity feed” as part of the winemaking process. This facility, which features 2 art galleries, is built to enable the winery to produce a maximum of 15,000 cases annually.

2004 Di Arie Zinfandel
Amador County

Most of the grapes used for this wine come from a hillside vineyard in Amador County farmed by Vicki Delpart. My style of wine is fully extracted with fruit forward, good balance, ... morea complex mid-palate and a long lingering finish.

This Zinfandel meets all the criteria of my style of wine. It is well balanced with deep color and typical varietal flavor and aroma. The dark berry flavors progress in the mid-palate to cherry and plum and the bold finish of chocolate lingers pleasantly long after the wine is consumed.

2004 “Southern Exposure” Zinfandel
Shenandoah Valley, California

The “Southern Exposure” designation for our wines denotes that we feel the wine has very special qualities. So far, we only had two wines that we felt were worthy of this honor ... more. These were our 2002 and 2003 Zinfandels that were made with grapes coming from the Original Grand Pere Vineyard which is over 100 years old. We feel that the 2004 version of this wine which was also made from grapes mostly coming from the Original Grand Pere Vineyard is worthy of becoming a member of the Southern Exposure family of wines.

The 2004 C.G. Di Arie Zinfandel, “Southern Exposure”® is an incredibly complex wine. Some of the flavors characteristic to Zinfandel as white and black pepper and brier are combined with black current (cassis) and plum which gives the wine a hint of sweetness. The finish has a spicy character with the cardamom background which makes this wine very exotic. This well balanced wine with its unusually long finish fills your mouth without being tannic. Our 2004 “Southern Exposure” Zinfandel has the elegance which compares to a well made Pinot Noir.

2004 Petite Sirah
Lodi

This Petite Sirah comes from Silva Spoon Vineyards in Lodi. Ron Silva is one of these special growers who are determined to elevate the Lodi Appellation to receive the recognition ... morethat it deserves. After our success with this variety in 2003 we crushed 15 tons of Petite Sirah in 2004. Some of this wine was used for blending but we bottled most of it under our C.G. Di Arie label.

This wine was made in our “Submerged Cap Fermentation Tank”. It was aged in French oak barrels for a full year. This well balanced wine starts with the fruit forward of dark berries and ripe plum, which grows in intensity in the mid-palate adding layers of chocolate, coffee and vanilla with a long finish of licorice and mocha.

2005 Petite Sirah Estate Grown
Shenandoah Valley, California

Petite Sirah contains generous amounts of tannin, color, and backbone. Most often used as a blender for just these reasons, it can be difficult to make a varietal wine. Understandi ... moreng these difficulties, we constructed a winemaking plan to maximize the varietal characteristics and minimize bitterness and harshness. The first step was to ensure the fruit had enough varietal character to complement their tannin and color. The grapes were harvested at the peak of ripeness to yield the maximum amount of fruit character possible. These fully mature grapes had the additional advantage of lower amounts of “green” or “harsh” tannins. In order to minimize the remaining “harsh” tannins, our Estate Petit Sirah was fermented in our stainless steel Submerged Cap Fermentation Tanks to ensure the resulting wine tannins would be “soft”. We then aged the wine in French and American oak barrels.

Inky dark purple in color the wine has an elegant nose that begins with blueberries and raspberries. Fruit gives way to cocoa and vanilla. On the palate notes of pencil shavings leads to mint, violets, smoked meats, and white pepper. The acidity in the long pleasant finish balances the tannins and
