C. G. Di Arie Winery Zinfandel |
2004 “Southern Exposure” Zinfandel Shenandoah Valley, California
The “Southern Exposure” designation for our wines denotes that we feel the wine has very special qualities. So far, we only had two wines that we felt were worthy of this honor. These were our 2002 and 2003 Zinfandels that were made with grapes coming from the Original Grand Pere Vineyard which is over 100 years old. We feel that the 2004 version of this wine which was also made from grapes mostly coming from the Original Grand Pere Vineyard is worthy of becoming a member of the Southern Exposure family of wines.
The 2004 C.G. Di Arie Zinfandel, “Southern Exposure”® is an incredibly complex wine. Some of the flavors characteristic to Zinfandel as white and black pepper and brier are combined with black current (cassis) and plum which gives the wine a hint of sweetness. The finish has a spicy character with the cardamom background which makes this wine very exotic. This well balanced wine with its unusually long finish fills your mouth without being tannic. Our 2004 “Southern Exposure” Zinfandel has the elegance which compares to a well made Pinot Noir. |
