Nicholls Wine |
2005 NICHOLLS Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley Dr. Crane Vineyard
We sourced our fruit from a well known producer located in St. Helena, Napa Valley. Originally planted almost 150 years ago, it was replanted in 1998. The well-drained, gravelly lo ...moream soil there helps create wines with a tremendous concentration of cassis, graphite, and other characteristics reminiscent of a great Graves. This wine has just been released and has yet to be reviewed. A true value; it's in a league with wines twice the price and is destined for cult cab status. Look for review in the June Wine Enthusiast Buyer's Guide (suggested retail $85, rated 86 - good value).

Per Bacco Cellars |
2005 Dionysus Arroyo Grande
This wine is exceptional on a number of levels. A study not only in cool climate Pinot Noir, but in the potential of this site. Its cool climate rearing is seen in the concentratio ...moren of dark fruit - black cherry, blackberry and plum evident in the nose and on the palate. With these flavors at its heart, the wine shows layers of spicy mocha, rose petal and a rich supple texture. The characteristics of the clones come forward in its earthy richness and its silky texture. It is at once intense and seductive, offering a firm structure along with a lingering finish that begs for exploration. Deep dark and rich, it is great now or will cellar for some years to come.

Laguna Canyon Winery |
2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Paso Robles
Full body, lots of tannins and a full 30 months in French oak barrels make this wine the most powerful red in the lot. This wine will age for ten more years, but it is very pleasan ...moret in its early stage of life. Be gentle and patient with it: decant and allow a few hours before drinking. Pairs well with red meat, rack of lamb and roast pork, and is excellent with beef tenderloin and sautéed wild mushrooms.

Bravante Vineyards |
2003 Simpatico Howell Mountain
Only 99 cases of this wine was produced, and it represents the premium offering from our Estate vineyards. Normally reserved as a "house wine", we began releasing small batches of ...more the Simpatico in 2001. Bravante Vineyards Simpatico is vineyard-select and then barrel-select, to ensure that this wine is always unique and special. It has beautifully defined fruit flavors of black cherries, and 23 % Cabernet Franc brings luscious blueberry and ripe currant with hints of earth, spice and toasty oak filling the flavor spectrum. The big fruit flavors are seamlessly integrated with refined and highly structured tannic core producing an elegant long and smooth finish. This wine could be enjoyed now, but will benefit from aging for 5-7 years.

2004 Di Arie Zinfandel Amador County
Most of the grapes used for this wine come from a hillside vineyard in Amador County farmed by Vicki Delpart. My style of wine is fully extracted with fruit forward, good balance, ...morea complex mid-palate and a long lingering finish.
This Zinfandel meets all the criteria of my style of wine. It is well balanced with deep color and typical varietal flavor and aroma. The dark berry flavors progress in the mid-palate to cherry and plum and the bold finish of chocolate lingers pleasantly long after the wine is consumed.

2004 C.G. Di Arie Syrah Sierra Foothills
This wine has a deep color and an aroma of cocoa and vanilla combined with tobacco and spice. This well balanced wine is very dry with layers of flavor of black cherry, dark plum, ...morecassis, coffee and tobacco. The fruit flavor intensifies in the mid-palate becoming very complex, picking up some herbal nuances. The wine finishes with a long and lingering finish adding baking type spicy flavors combined with smoky and almost meaty notes. This is a big wine worthy of aging for several years for optimum quality.

C. G. Di Arie Winery |
2004 “Southern Exposure” Zinfandel Shenandoah Valley, California
The “Southern Exposure” designation for our wines denotes that we feel the wine has very special qualities. So far, we only had two wines that we felt were worthy of this honor ...more. These were our 2002 and 2003 Zinfandels that were made with grapes coming from the Original Grand Pere Vineyard which is over 100 years old. We feel that the 2004 version of this wine which was also made from grapes mostly coming from the Original Grand Pere Vineyard is worthy of becoming a member of the Southern Exposure family of wines.
The 2004 C.G. Di Arie Zinfandel, “Southern Exposure”® is an incredibly complex wine. Some of the flavors characteristic to Zinfandel as white and black pepper and brier are combined with black current (cassis) and plum which gives the wine a hint of sweetness. The finish has a spicy character with the cardamom background which makes this wine very exotic. This well balanced wine with its unusually long finish fills your mouth without being tannic. Our 2004 “Southern Exposure” Zinfandel has the elegance which compares to a well made Pinot Noir.

2004 Petite Sirah Lodi
This Petite Sirah comes from Silva Spoon Vineyards in Lodi. Ron Silva is one of these special growers who are determined to elevate the Lodi Appellation to receive the recognition ...morethat it deserves. After our success with this variety in 2003 we crushed 15 tons of Petite Sirah in 2004. Some of this wine was used for blending but we bottled most of it under our C.G. Di Arie label.
This wine was made in our “Submerged Cap Fermentation Tank”. It was aged in French oak barrels for a full year. This well balanced wine starts with the fruit forward of dark berries and ripe plum, which grows in intensity in the mid-palate adding layers of chocolate, coffee and vanilla with a long finish of licorice and mocha.

C. G. Di Arie Winery |
2005 Zinfandel Shenandoah Valley, CA
The wine was made in our “Submerged Cap Fermentation Tank” and aged for about a year in predominantly French Oak barrels. The aroma of this wine is dominated by black cherry w ...moreith nuances of black pepper. On the palate the dark fruit character becomes more pronounced adding layers of black berries and cassis while the black pepper flavor also intensifies. The long finish has more dark fruit with added layers of coffee and spice. This wine is very well balanced with a strong varietal identity.
This wine which is very drinkable now will age graciously and will become a gem in years to come.
