Hello, I am Tom Findleton, the proud father of five great children, husband to my wife Pam Findleton (the artist), and owner of Findleton Estate Winery (FEW).. We specialize in crafting small lots of high quality El Dorado county AVA wine at a competitively valued price. Our estate grown Pinot noir is an ideal crop for this high elevation climate and volcanic rocky soil. Our five acres of vigorously maintained and managed fruit is grown on an ideal site with a cool microclimate fitting for Pinot noir. We are aware of only one other winery in all of El Dorado County that grows Pinot noir. The miners called this area "pneumonia gultch" for a reason! We are proud of our small family operated vineyard! For our other wines, we purchase only El Dorado county grown grapes from a very select group of local vineyards and we control every aspect of the wine making process. Findleton Estate and Winery has focused on producing five premier wines. • Pinot noir • Syrah • Viognier • Zinfandel • Poor Red (Bordeaux Blend) - Parrothead Red is now available too!
We know that you will find our wines to be very enjoyable and well worth the price. | Camino, CA Phone: 530-644-4018 Website: http://www.finzinwines.com Appellation: El Dorado Tasting Room: Now open Friday - Saturday & Sunday from 11AM - 5PM Map to Findleton Estate & Winery

Pinot Noir
|
2006 Estate Pinot Noir El Dorado County
This is the second vintage of the Estate Pinot noir and was cropped at less than 1 ton per acre. The wine beautifully reflects our unique growing site situated at 3,000 ft elevatio ... moren on chalky volcanic soil. The high elevation allows for cooler days and much lower over-all heat accumulation throughout the growing season. The cooler temperature enabled the Pinot noir to ripen slowly, which is necessary to develop and retain its varietal and terroir driven characteristics. The grapes were hand-picked, sorted, and underwent a 3 day cold soak followed by a slow fermentation. The wine was aged on its solids for 12 months and was bottled unfined and unfiltered as to minimize the handling of the fragile grape variety. Our vineyard granted us with a very delicate, light bodied, yet balanced and complex Pinot noir. The bouquet of ripe strawberry, perfume, and vanilla bean is delightfully counterbalanced by earthy notes reminiscent of smoke, cedar, and mushroom. The palate is fruit forward with hints of earth and is supported by a firm acidity.
