Syrah

2005 Syrah Estate Pichon Vineyard Santa Cruz Mountains
We've never made a Syrah this beautiful in every way, from the color to the amazing finish. It's gloriously deep and dark, and tantalizes your nose with a wealth of intriguing arom ... moreas. You might find a ham and Swiss sandwich in there, plus olives, sweet sandalwood, and toasted pumpernicker bread. The white pepper is most amazing, and continues onto the palate, along with delectable flavors of salami, ollalieberry and blueberry jam. On the back end, tart goosebery and ginger really spice up the finish, which doesn't quit easily. This is one precocious wine that evolves in the glass and never ceases to amaze. Cabernet Franc
|
2004 Cabernet Franc Santa Cruz Mountains
Our second totally estate Cabernet Franc from our Pichon Vineyard, this brilliant and clear, gorgeous wine has elusive and shy perfume-tinted scents of rose petals, violets and a h ... moreint of pink peppercorns. On the palate it is clean, smooth, delecate and well-framed, like a prima ballerina. The earthy red fruits are lurking beneath the overwhelmingly floral presentation. The finish is devine, with just a hint of white pepper.

Cabernet Sauvignon

2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Santa Cruz Mountains
The nose is creamy Dutch chocolate, mocha, raspberries and dried cherries. On the palate, a delightful combination of chocolate-covered raspberry toffee, vermouth-like herbs, coffe ... moree and caramel. The tannins are easy, the wine well balanced and oh-so drinkable.

Cabernet Sauvignon
|
2005 Old School Cabernet Sauvignon Santa Cruz Mountains
This baby Bordeaux blend just keeps getting better and better. This wine is primarily Cabernet Sauvignon from Martin Ranch, premium stuff that Dave normally reserves for the Deans ... morelist Cab. The remainder of the Cab in this blend comes from the Dellamaggiore vineyard, known for it's plummy, ripe fruit. The Cabernet Franc and Merlot are from the estate Pichon Vineyard, making this one the classiest "Old School" yet. The aromas of briar and peppercorns are bold and inviting, and the flavors are big charry, smoky cedar and a bit of menthol. Aged in American oak, the wine definately shows off the piney and smokey touches of this fragrant wood. The finish is fabulous. Best 2007 through 2010; Only 600 cases made

Merlot
|
2004 Merlot Santa Cruz Mountains
Our 2004 Estate Merlot is gorgeous in the glass, promising a rich experience. Aromas of bright cherry, eucalyptus and a hint of menthol greet you, followed by hints of fine French ... moreoak. This is a big, muscular, meaty and well-structured wine that saw two years in French oak. Massive cherry, espresso and mocha flavors on the long finish. There is also a hint of juniper, giving it that added complexity cool climate Merlots tend to exhibit. This body-builder of a wine has many fine years ahead of it.
