The first Schweiger vines were planted in 1981 and the first harvest was in 1984. For the first 10 years, the Schweigers sold their fruit to Joe Cafaro, ZD, Newton and Stags Leap Winery. In 1994, Schweiger Vineyards became a bonded winery and the family began bottling wine under their own label, though they continued to sell most of their grapes to contracted wineries. | St. Helena, CA Phone: (707)963-4882 Website: http://www.schweigervineyards.com Appellation: Spring Mountain District Tasting Room: Schweiger Vineyards is open for Tours and Tastings by appointment. 2006 Sauvignon Blanc Sonoma Valley
This is our sixth release of Sauvignon Blanc from Uboldi Vineyards in Kenwood, CA. As always, our goal is to preserve the fresh fruit quality while enhancing the mouth feel. To bes ... moret ensure that this wine reaches your table this way, we utilize the Stelvin Screw Cap, the best closure available for aromatic white wines such as this. Not only is the bottle easy to open, but you are guaranteed quality in every bottle with no chance of oxidation or taint. The aromatics of this wine blend a broad spectrum from lemongrass, citrus, and green apples to apricot, melon, and tropical fruits. These fruit characters are very present in the mouth, accompanying a very crisp finish with lingering tropical components. The acidity of this wine makes it very refreshing and food friendly. This wine is best served between 52 and 58 degrees F (an average refrigerator after two hours).

2006 Chardonnay Spring Mountain District
The 2006 vintage is our thirteenth release of Chardonnay. We strive to strike a balance between fruitiness and complexity in our wines, Our goal is to always express the fruit of o ... moreur vineyard first; why work hard in the vineyard only to mask the true beauty with cellar practices. Once harvested, we selectively use the tools we have at our disposal as winemakers to shape and complement the wine; surlies aging, and French oak cooperage, both new and old. Our 2006 Chardonnay is a full bodied wine with true varietal characteristics, hints of pear, kiwi, citrus, and apricots, and delicate undertones of oak and tropical fruits. The body of the wine is rich and supple, filling the mouth with flavors. The true nature of Spring Mountain Chardonnay comes through in the mineral character, more reminiscent of a classic Mersault than your typical California Chardonnay. This wine is best served between 58°F and 65°F.

2004 Merlot Spring Mountain District
The 2004 came on fast and hot but at an even enough pace that we were able to bring in the fruit at just the right moment, resulting in a full complex Merlot. With the 2004 vintage ... more, we continue our unique tradition of crafting 100% Merlot. The aroma is full of mixed berries and black cherry, with hints of cocoa, cedar, and hazelnut. On the mouth, vibrant fruit shows off a richly layered mid-palate and lingering black fruit finish.

2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain District
The 2004 vintage of Schweiger Cabernet Sauvignon marks a new progression in our Cabernet program. With Fred’s blessing, Andy has begun carefully experimenting with blending small ... more amounts of our classic Merlot into our Cabernet Sauvignon to further express the beautiful fruit of our Spring Mountain Estate. Those familiar with our wines know our prior 2001 Cabernet release began a brave new world for us, as we extended our barrel aging program to further soften and round out our full mountain fruit. We continued that tradition with our 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2004 vintage came in hot, hard, and fast with beautifully intense fruit flavors. For our efforts, we have been rewarded with a rich, full-bodied Cabernet, deep in color. The nose of the wine is lively with essences of berries, plum, and toasty oak. The sweet, supple entry crescendos into a deeply intense middle; followed by a pleasant, velvety, lingering finish.

Port

Port VII Napa Valley
This is the "Seventh Edition" port from the Schweiger Family. From our estate Cabernet Sauvignon grapes we created this smooth, intense port. Crushing of the berries is minimized t ... moreo increase color extraction resulting in a fermentor filled with whole berries. During the fermentation, the wine is punched down three to four times a day, slowly liberating juice from the berries to the fermenting must. Around twelve degrees brix is when the real magic occurs: the brandy addition. The brandy is produced from wine made from either Pinot Noir or Chenin Blanc grapes, which is then double distilled in a traditional alambic still to 142 proof. The sudden spike in alcohol conent from the brandy addition arrests the fermentation, leaving the natural sugar from the grape in the finished wine. The wine is then aged solera style, with different vintages being blended together to produce the most complex aromas and flavors possible. Enjoy with family and friends. ONLY FIVE BARRELS PRODUCED.
