Fine wine begins with great fruit. That’s why we draw upon outstanding grapes harvested from the best vineyards throughout Santa Barbara County. We seek to capitalize on the unique terroir of each vineyard source from our estate ranches in the Santa Ynez Valley and our long-term relationships with prominent growers in the Santa Rita Hills and the Santa Maria Valley.

2004 Rodney’s Vineyard Syrah Block F

Rodney’s Vineyard has some very distinctive flavor characteristics in its Syrah such as notes of clove, anise, dried herbs and a smoky quality to go along with black fruits. ... more

By focusing on a single block of this vineyard located in the well-drained upper mesa, we are trying to narrow the fruit source even more and really accentuate the very best of what this vineyard has to offer.

This wine is exceptionally complex, balanced, rich and juicy, and sure to deliver on the palate.

2004 Paradise Road Vineyard Syrah
Santa Barbara County

For the very first time, we are proud to introduce the 04 Paradise Road Syrah. The grapes for this wine come from one of the most unique and picturesque vineyards located right off ... more Hwy 154, halfway in between our valley and Santa Barbara. Due to its inland location, it is a very warm site, but still enjoys a consistent maritime influence. We aged the wine completely in French oak barrels, 50% were new and 50% were 3 year old barrels. The extended barrel aging – 25 months!- imparted nice toasty, spicy oak notes to the wine.

This is a dynamic addition to our single-vineyard syrah portfolio. Big, forward dark fruit flavors are complemented by racy, peppery spice notes. The wine is rich and round texturally with good tannin structure and balance. We hope you enjoy our new addition as much as we do! 97 cases made.

2004 Grenache
Santa Barbara County

Grenache seems to be enjoying more and more success around the world. In the past, we have primarily used Grenache as a blending grape for wines like Revelation. But last year we m ... moreade our first 100% Grenache wine (called Gypsy, this year we are calling it Grenache) and we had outstanding results! (And feedback!) So, we are very excited to once again have this wine back in the tasting room. Our Grenache was primarily grown on Rodney’s Vineyard at the Fess Parker winery. This is one of the last blocks we pick every year and 2004 was no exception. After picking the grapes in mid October and fermenting the grapes for 15 days, we aged the wine in 100% Cadus French oak barrels. We decided to put the wine into year-old barrels to ensure that the oak flavors would not be too dominant in the finished wine.

This wine has wonderful aromatics and shows bright cherry & strawberry fruit flavors on the palate. You’ll find enticing cinnamon/spice notes reminiscent of apple pie along with slight smoky, toasty oak flavors. It is a wine with good balance, structure and soft, approachable tannins. We believe it is an age-worthy wine, but also bet it won’t last long in your cellar after you

Comprised of 60% Syrah, 35% Grenache and 5% Petite Sirah, the 2004 offering is dense, dark purple in color and shows exotic aromas of black cherry, plum, smoke and pepper.
... morer> The palate is full-bodied with jammy blackberry liqueur flavors accented by enticing spice box, leather, vanilla and peppery notes. It is balanced, long on the finish and thoroughly rewarding.

We aged this wine for over two years in one- and two-year-old barrels (80% French and 20% American oak) to add complexity and texture.

2004 Petite Sirah
Santa Barbara County

Another blockbuster from the vineyard Robert Parker has deemed “grand cru” of California. “Dark” is the word for this wine; as in dark purple/black color – try opaque – ... more and dark fruits such as blackberries and plums. This wine delivers what most Petite Sirah drinkers are looking for: rich, full texture, massive structure and big tannins.

What may be a little surprising, however, is the level of depth and complexity retained within all this power in the form of spice, cinnamon & chocolate notes.

Extended aging in older Francois Freres French oak barrels has served to round out any rough edges texturally and some spicy vanilla nuances.

2004 Gypsy
Santa Barbara County

In the past, Gypsy was comprised of 100% Grenache. But with such an eclectic name, we decided the wine needed to be something a bit unique as well. So, this years Gypsy is a blend ... moreof 40% Grenache, 40% Mourvedre and 20% Syrah. 60% of the grapes are from the Camp 4 Vineyard in the Santa Ynez Valley & 40% are from Rodney’s Vineyard in the Santa Ynez Valley. After aging for 26 months in 30% New French & American Oak, we bottled the wine and came up with the wine you are now enjoying!

The combination of these three grapes brings out a very balanced wine. Mourvedre tends to be an intense wine heavy on tannins, but the fruit and richness of the Grenache tends to soften the grape while the spice and body of the Syrah gives it structure. On the nose of the Gypsy, there are hints of black cherry, allspice, vanilla and hints of leather followed by a silky smooth texture on the pallet with a light vanilla finish.

This wine will pair nicely with pizza, pasta, grilled or roasted meats like Dad’s pork chops on the grill and root vegetables. Enjoy the Gypsy while you can because, as the name suggests, it won’t be around for long!

When the winemaker thinks of Grenache Rose, he thinks of beautiful aromatics, an enticing strawberry color and crisp fruit flavors of strawberry, cherry and watermelon. When we think of Grenache Rose, we think of long, warm summer evenings, afternoon barbecues with some good friends and lazy days by the pool.

This dry Rose is the perfect compliment for any picnic or barbecue event. And, though the Rose enhances any outdoor meal, it is equally appealing to have a glass on its own while enjoying the end of a day.

A glass of Rose takes lounging on your patio to a whole new level.
