Bechard Vineyard & Winery is located in the Fairplay wine region of El Dorado County, California. The vineyard at an elevation of 2400ft, located in Somerset, is the northernmost vineyard in the Fairplay AVA and overlooks the North fork of the Cosumnes river valley. Our focus is on handcrafted, small lots of blended wines, Syrah and Zinfandel. Currently available wines include our 2006 Shenandoah Valley Sauvignon Blanc, 2005 Sierra Foothill Grenache, 2005 Oakmont Vineyard Zinfandel , 2004 Herbert Vineyard Late Harvest Zinfandel, 2004 Lodi Petite Sirah, 2004 El Dorado Syrah and 2001 El Dorado Zinfandel.
Following in the traditional winemaking styles of the Rhone Valley in France and the Rioja region in Spain, our vineyard was planted with Viognier, Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Tempranillo and Petite Sirah. Our first estate fruit was harvested in 2005 and we will be bottling those releases in 2008. Very small quantities of Petite Sirah and a Rhone blend of Syrah, grenache, mourvedre & viognier. | Somerset, CA
