Sauvignon Blanc

20405 visitors
The grape originated in France, in the regions of Bordeaux and the Loire Valley. Plantings in California, Australia, Chile and South Africa are also extensive, and Sauvignon Blanc is steadily increasing in popularity as white wine drinkers seek alternatives to Chardonnay. The grape can also be found in Italy and Eastern Europe.

Food Pairing: Pairs well with any shellfish, grilled or marinated white meat fishes and sushi. Fresh summer salads and vinaigrettes with shaved cheese are a nice afternoon repast with Sauvignon Blanc. Excellent with Mexican cuisine.

2007 Sauvignon Blanc
High Valley

We've been lucky enough to have the perfect Sauvignon Blanc harvest for our second vintage, which means we can make it available for you to enjoy by November! The grapes were harv ...moreested for maximum flavor and balance, then gently vinified with partial fermentation in French oak for added nuance and body.
Our Sauvignon Blanc boasts mouth-watering flavors of grapefruit, gooseberry and passionfruit that linger on the palate, ending in a long, rounded finish with just a hint of vanilla. A great aperitif wine, it also pairs beautifully with simple seafood preparations, fresh salads and light pastas.
With this refreshing wine on hand, you'll be looking forward to the next heat wave!

2006 Chameleon Sauvignon Blanc North Coast
North Coast

Chameleon Cellars is changing colors and added our first white wine ever in 2006. The second version of the award-winning 2005 SB is every bit as good as its predecessor - maybe be ...moretter !! Its lush fruit and lovely aromatics are totally in keeping with our philosophy that all wine should be redolent of the grape it represents and provide crisp and refreshing acidity of the palate.

This variety has long been prized for its ability to enhance a wide of variety of lighter foods, and our 2005 version is no exception. Grapes come from Mendocino, Lake and Sonoma Counties along with 7% Verdelho from Lodi. All stainless for fresh, clean highly aromatic wine with hints of mango and grapefruit will meld beautifully with a lightly grilled or sauteed snapper as well as a rosemary-infused roast chicken, goat cheese ravioli or coconut shrimp.

While absolutely perfect for immediate consumption, this pretty wine has both the depth of fruit and tangy acidity required for some further bottle age.

2005 Gusto Sauvignon Blanc

I made Sauvignon Blanc for years in California, and it has long been a favorite wine to drink because of its crisp, refreshing character. I have always preferred my Sauvignon Blanc ...more in the more vibrant style, without the heavy character of oak barrels, a style I started to admire coming out of New Zealand wineries in the 90’s. Well, the seasons in New Zealand are opposite those here in the Northern Hemisphere, so when my California vineyards are sleepy and quiet, awaiting the arrival of Spring – it is Fall in New Zealand and the grapes are starting to ripen! In 1998 I arranged to work the harvest in the Northern tip of New Zealand’s South Island, in a region called Marlborough. I went to study and experience the winemaking styles and techniques, although what I discovered is a microclimate that turns the Sauvignon Blanc grape into distinctive and delicious flavor reflections. The Cook’s Straight which separates New Zealand’s two islands, creates a constant funnel of marine breezes, continually cooling the coastal vineyards. The soils are rich in calcareous deposits, the benefit of the island geography. This translates into vigorous vines and long growing seasons.
