2005 Petite Sirah
Napa Valley

Following are Robert Parker’s tasting notes of the 05 barrell sample:

”From the northeastern corner of the Napa Valley, this (Carver Sutro) Petite Sirah speciali ...morest turns out pedal to the metal, powerful, intense wines from this underrated varietal. “Revealing an opaque purple hue as well as a full-bodied, dense personality, the 2005 Petite Sirah Palisades Vineyard offers up scents of blueberries, black raspberries, camphor, graphite, and spring flowers. It reveals huge tannins, good acidity and 25 years of aging potential.”

2007 Carte Blanche
Sierra Foothills

Light straw yellow. Intensely aromatic, expressing mainly flowers, herbs, and spices, with berries and some oak in the background. Medium-full bodied, lean, pure, and intensely fla ...morevorful. Again, flowers/herbs/minerals, with ample ripeness and fruit giving it a perfect balance. Unusually intense and persistent, truly elegant. This wine should evolve over many years (15+) and will keep changing in the process… One thing to note is that between every two "in focus" points of its evolution, this type of wine may well go "out of focus" and taste a little ackward, weird, tired, sometimes even appear oxydized before showing well again. Something like a snake shedding its skin…
