Roshambo Winery is the brainchild of Naomi Brilliant, a conceptual artist and granddaughter of renowed Sonoma County grape grower Frank Johnson. It was born of the simple idea that fine was too stuffy and needed to be slapped off its pedestal. Named after the West Coast slang for the ancient children's game, "Rock, Paper, Scissors", Roshambo is infused with a keen and playful sensibility. "Fighting for Fun in a Winery World" is our mantra and with our annual RPS Tournaments, Pirate Proms and revolving art openings, we try living up to our billing. It's no surprise that with this strikingly original approach, Roshambo WInery has amassed an enthusiastic and loyal following. | Healdsburg, CA Phone: (888) 525-9463 Website: http://www.roshambowinery.com/index.htm Appellation: Northern Sonoma |
Syrah

2005 Frank Johnson Vineyard Syrah Dry Creek Valley
Here's a Syrah that marches to the beat of its own drummer. Eschewing massive fruit, it shows a subtle, complex melange of dried blackberries and bitter black cherries, olive tapen ... moreade, tobacco, dark unsweetened chocolate, leather and the white pepper of a fine Syrah. Drink this dramatic wine now through 2010.

Gewurztraminer
|
2006 Gewurztraminer Gorey Russian River Valley
Our influences at roshambo stray from the mainstream. We often find ourselves drawing inspiration from the great, but sometimes forgotten, artisans of the ages. Like our hero Edwar ... mored Gorey, who made grisly fun again, or like the wine makers of Alsace that remind us that Gewurztraminer is at its most mind-blowing, most breathtaking, and downright sexiest when it’s not cloyingly sweet, but dry. Our dry Gewurztraminer is rich with aromas of meyer lemon, honeysuckle, and lychee but finishes crisp, clean, and refreshing. Vive la difference!
