2005 Zinfandel
Macauley Vineyard Napa Valley

The 2005 Macauley Zinfandel exhibits a captivating purple hue. This wine begins with beautiful front notes of cherry vanilla and clove. Deeper in the nose is a presence of black be ... morerry, briar spice and edges of black pepper. It's as rich and hedonistic as a Hayne or Monte Rosso Vineyard. The mouth feel, while young, is showing great promise with full, coating tannin and a fine acidic structure. Enjoy for 5 to 7 years with proper cellaring. The wine was bottled unfiltered and unfined, as always.

Blackberry, cherry, raspberry and cassis continually change places in this wine depending on the food pairing. These complex berry flavors balance well with the acid and firm tannins add longevity. Try this with rack of lamb, duck or grilled veal chop.
