Sangiovese

13164 visitors
Sangiovese is a red wine grape variety originating in Italy. It is most famous as the main component of the Chianti blend in Tuscany, but winemakers outside Italy are starting to experiment with it. Young sangiovese has fresh fruity flavours of strawberry and a little spiciness, but it readily takes on oaky, even tarry, flavours when aged in barrels.

2003 Sangiovese

Sangiovese, also known as Brunello or Sangioveto, is the primary grape in the famous Chianti appellation in Italy. Sangiovese was brought to California by Italian immigrants, many ...moreof whom settled in the Napa Valley. With the many micro climates that exist in the Napa Valley, Sangiovese thrives and produces great wines. Rutherford Hill’s 2003 Sangiovese shows the full potential of this varietal. Ruby in color, this wine has an aroma profile of strawberry jam, ripe plums that open up into cherries with notes of hazelnut and caramel. In the pallet, the wine is smooth with alcohol and acids existing in complete harmony with the tannins to create finesse in the finish. In other words, “Alzi il vostro vetro a questo vino!” (Raise your glass to this wine!)

Sangiovese (Sawn-geo-vese) is a light red Italian varietal, usually blended with Barbera, and Nebbiolo to produce a Chianti wine blend. When produced on it's own it produces a lig ...moreht red wine with solid tannins and sharp acids. This Sangiovese displays nice strawberry and earthy characters, with a pleasant soft body. The perfect red wine for the non-red wine drinker, or those times when a big red wine isn't suitable. Enjoy with any pasta, red sauce, or sun dried tomatoes.

Our Sangiovese comes from our Cypress Ranch vineyard in Pope Valley. 2004 Laraine Sangiovese

A number of years ago, Gerber Vineyards began shifting the emphasis of growing Chardonnay to growing red varietals. After comparing our growing season conditions to other parts of ...morethe world, we surmised that although we have cool nights due to our elevation, our warm and sometimes hot summer days may best lend themselves to varietals which are planted in the Mediterranean regions of Europe.

The 2004 Laraine Sangiovese is blended with small quantities of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon to increase its color, density and structure. It is a lively wine which will accompany grilled meats and fish. I suggest you chill the wine slightly and enjoy it while cooking.
