2005 Sonoma Valley Sangiovese Sonoma Valley
This is our second vintage of this easy drinking Italian varietal. Our inaugural release was sold out in 3 months! Italian immigrants from Tuscany introduced the Sangiovese grape to California in the late 1800’s. Sanguis Jovis, the Latin origin for the varietal name, literally means ‘blood of Jove’ and Sangiovese is the primary grape in Italian Chianti. The flavor profile of Sangiovese is fruity, with moderate to high natural acidity and a light to medium body with strawberry, blueberry, violet and clove characteristics. Sangiovese is also the primary grape in Super Tuscan wines produced in Italy and here in the U.S. |
