Screaming Jack is a joint venture between Billington Imports and winemaker, Tom Larson. Larson graduated from UC Davis in 1987. In 1986, as a senior in college, Larson began making wine on his family's historic horse ranch. He called his brand Sonoma Creek. The ranch was originally purchased by Larson's grandfather in 1897, from a boat captain who used Sonoma Creek to tansport passengers and produce to San Francisco. After purchasing the ranch, Larson's grandfather used it to expand his horse and fee business. Larson's father, Bob, who was a veternarian, gained an interest in wine in the 1970s. He began planting vines, and in 1978 - the first vintage - Bob and Tom crushed 20 tons of Merlot and Chardonnay. Tom and his father used their old pick-up truck to sell the wines to local merchants. In 1986, Tom established the Sonoma Creek brand, and by 1993 it had reached statewide distribution. Throughout the 1990s, Sonoma Creek continued to grow, increasing 20% or more a year. By 1998, the brand had reached all major U.S. markets, and by 2002 it was the largest table wine brand in Carneros. Unable to facilitate the large production at his home ranch, Tom sold the Sonoma Creek brand in 2002. In 2003, Tom teamed up with Billington Imports to create the Screaming Jack label. | Sonoma, CA
