2005 Benson Ferry Zinfandel Wins Silver at California State Fair Wine Judging July 13, 2007 Lodi - By winning a Silver Medal at the just-completed 2007 California State Fair Wine Judging, the 2005 Benson Ferry Vineyards Old Vine Lodi Zinfandel shows delicious wine needn’t be expensive.
The 2005 Benson Ferry Old Vine Lodi Zinfandel comes from one of the oldest
Zinfandel vineyards in Lodi still farmed by the family that planted it.
Established in the 1950s on the western edge of the Lodi appellation by the
Stokes family, this estate vineyard produces grapes with powerful fruit and
supple texture. The 2005 Benson Ferry Old Vine Lodi Zinfandel showcases ripe,
forward blackberry and raspberry character, accented by hints of cedar and juniper. Smoothness on the palate puts the focus on the opulent fruit, and
leads to a supple, lingering finish. It retails for a deliciously affordable
suggested retail of $10.99.
The Stokes family established Benson Ferry Vineyards as a label in 2001 to
showcase premium wines produced both from its Lodi vineyards and from other
select California vineyards. Today Benson Ferry makes Lodi Zinfandel, Shiraz and Port, plus Chardonnay from select vineyards in California’s North Coast. | Link to press release | About Benson Ferry Vineyards Situated in the heart of California at the confluence of the Mokelumne and Cosumnes Rivers, Benson Ferry celebrates a rich farming heritage.
