Stephen & Walker Winery Cabernet Sauvignon |
2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain, Napa
No one believes me… when I say that we share these grapes with the bears, mountain lions, turkeys and deer in this remote vineyard… that is until they accompany me to the vineyard! These grapes grow on the slopes of a very famous vineyard above 1,400 feet elevation, in a very remote area of the Howell Mountain appellation in Napa Valley. Of all the places where grapes are grown, this is truly a Grand Cru vineyard and appellation. The vineyard itself is cut from the mountain and grows on terraces so steep that walking down the rows is dangerous!
This single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is crushed and fermented with extended skin contact and maceration for 21 days. It is then pressed and put into small, French oak barrels for 24 months before bottling. |
