Wellington Vineyards Syrah |
2004 Syrah England Crest, Sonoma Valley
The grapes for this wine were harvested in four separate lots, between Sept. 26th and Oct. 22nd, a span of almost four weeks. Each vineyard block was picked at optimal maturity and all were fermented in small open top tanks with manual punchdown. The finished wine has intense blackberry and cassis aromas, along with caramel and violets, and the smoky-gamy-bacony signature so unique to Syrah. It is full and rich without being overbearing and has enough chewy tannin to age gracefully for a few years if you can resist drinking it now. |
