2005 Zinfandel El Dorado County has long been known for producing great Zinfandels, avoiding the raisiny and over-ripe flavors found in Zins from the hotter lowlands. Our 2005 Zinfandel is a lovely example of the power, richness and elegance we enjoy at higher elevations. A blend of herbert Zinfandel from Fairply and our own estate fruit, the wine shows ripe raspberry, spice and mulberry fruit, with toasty oak nuances. The palate is broad and balanced, with ripe red fruit and good acid balance. The wine is delicious now with roast duck, flautas al pastor or Brie cheese, or will soften and develop with 2-4 years of bottle age.
