Indian Rock Vineyards Viognier |
2006 Viognier Calaveras County
This fabled grape, once grown only in very small quantities in the northern Rhone Valley in France, is now cultivated in many regions of the world, including our little vineyard. We planted Viognier in 2004 on rich clay/loam soils, and have vinified it to express all the things we find attractive about the variety; deep aromas of peaches and honeysuckle, broad and powerful palate, and a clean, fresh finish, unencumbered by new oak. It may be our richest and most opulent white wine we've ever produced, and is a great match for salmon and sea bass or enjoyed with creamy cheeses like St Andre and Camembert. |
