De Loach Vineyards Zinfandel |
2004 Gambogi Ranch Zinfandel Russian River Valley
Annchise Gambogi planted this 10-acre vineyard in 1909. Located within two miles of the winery, these old head-pruned vines are farmed without trellising and irrigation. The vines produce intensely flavorful fruit from very low yields.
The grapes were hand-harvested on October 12th, 2004 at the peak of their maturity. In the cellar, the must was fermented in stainless steel tanks for 10 days. The wine was then aged for 9 months in American oak barrels.
Classic brambly aromas, raspberry, chocolate and spice mingle together in this rich and flavorful Zinfandel. Its big, firm structure accentuates vibrant fruit and oak. This elegant wine offers layers of complexity, firm tannins and a long finish. Enjoy with Spicy Lamb Stew with Black Pepper and Green Olives, Osso Buco with Tomatoes and Herbs. |
