2002 Cabernet Sauvignon
Sonoma County, Redwood Hill

We have worked with this grower for a number of years and watched the quality soar. This tiny, high elevation vineyard is above the fog level, but benefits from the cool evening air to slow maturation. Mountain vineyards are known for tremendous acid retention, smaller clusters and low yields, resulting in intense, balanced and well-extracted fruit. While the goal with this wine was never to obtain excessive ripeness and extract, it maintains focused fruit and a food friendly nature. This wine was held in the finest French oak barrels (30% new) for 18 months before bottling and bottle aged for an additional 30 months prior to release. Crafted in a style which will evolve gracefully for many years, this wine will be appeal to the Sonoma County Cab fans.
